Photography Exhibition Documenting the Lives of California Farmworkers Opens at UC Davis

A traveling exhibition of nearly 90 works by labor photographer and journalist David Bacon opens on Saturday, Sept. 13, at the University of California, Davis. Organized by the UC Davis Labor and Community Center in partnership with the artist, the exhibition shines a light on the experiences, strength and resilience of farmworkers in Northern California.

Shields Library at UC Davis has incorporated two new exhibits onto its main floor, allowing students, faculty and staff to take a break to learn about the history of Davis through postcards as well as how cultures preserve their histories through cooking. Alumnus Jeffrey Berger ’74 and his wife Sheri Berger have donated a major piece of public art to University of California, Davis. “Ghetto Wall,” an original sculpture by the prominent California artist and educator Ruth Cozen Snyder, was installed on Aug. 24 in the courtyard of Peter J. Shields Library, at the heart of the Davis campus.

It will be housed at the UC Davis Library’s Archives and Special Collections with support from the UC Davis Electric Vehicle Research Center.
